Biography of Anthony Atala , Anthony Atala, MD (born July 14, 1958) is an American bioengineer, urologist, and pediatric surgeon. And W.H. Biography of Anthony Atala Atala was born in Peru and grew up in Marjan Gables, Florida.  Atala is at the University of Miami, and she has a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He attended medical school at the University of Louisville, where he also completed his residency in urology.  World-renowned Alan Ritick and Hardy Hendern trained. He is the director of the Laboratory for Tissue Engineering and Cell Therapy at Boston Children’s Hospital.  His work there involved growing human tissues and organs to replace damage caused by disease or defect. He wrote a letter, including, “Some may interpret my research as an alternative to the need to pursue other resuscitation medical treatments, such as those involving embryonic stem cells. I disagree with this claim.”
